UNITE – Unyama Campus is situated approximately 7 kilometres from Gulu City centre along the Gulu–Kitgum Highway, UNiTE Unyama Campus occupies an expansive 89.5-hectare freehold estate in the Pece-Laroo Division of Gulu City, Northern Uganda. Officially transitioning to the Uganda National Institute for Teacher Education (UNiTE) under Statutory Instrument 53 in July 2024, the campus carries a distinguished legacy dating back to its establishment in 1984 as one of five government-aided teacher training institutions in the country.
The campus presents a verdant, self-sustaining character, blending academic facilities with active agricultural enterprises including dairy farming, poultry, maize production, and apiary projects. Its infrastructure encompasses science laboratories, sports facilities, student accommodation, demonstration farms, and a functioning nursery section that serves as a practical early childhood training centre.
With an enrolment close to 900 students and a community extending across Uganda and neighboring countries, UNiTE Unyama Campus maintains a dynamic, inclusive environment shaped by strong partnerships with organisations such as Enabel and VVOB, firmly rooting it as a centre of professional teacher education in the region.

How do I do I get admitted to the UNITE-Unyama Campus
Visit the Online Application Portal Apply online at https://apply.unite.ac.ug and remember to select UNITE Unyama Campus as your preferred campus when filling in the application form.
Choose Your Programme UNITE Unyama Campus offers Bachelor’s and Diploma programmes in teacher education, designed to train the next generation of professional Teachers.
Check Admission Lists After applying, UNITE publishes provisional admission lists on its website. You can download the Unyama Campus Direct Entry/Pre-service Admission List from unite.ac.ug to confirm whether you have been admitted.
Who should I contact if I'm unsure which office handles my query?
Start by contacting the campus reception desk. They will assess your query and direct you to the right OFFICE whether that’s Dean, ARR, or another office
Can I reach campus offices by email, or do I need to call?
Yes, most offices can be reached by email, phone, or in-person visit. Email is recommended for non-urgent matters, while phone or walk-in visits are better for time-sensitive issues.
What are the operating hours for campus offices?
Most campus offices are open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Some offices may work on weekends or have extended or limited hours during registration periods, public holidays, or semester breaks
Why are there no Arts courses at UNITE?
All Arts courses have been accredited, and they will come on board when resources allow.
Campus Facilities & Student Accommodation
Is accommodation in the hall of residence provided free of charge?
No. Accommodation fees are payable each semester. Pre-service students are required to pay UGX 300,000 per semester, while in-service students are required to pay UGX 150,000 per semester
Who is responsible for maintaining hygiene in the hall of residence?
Each student is individually responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in their designated space within the hall of residence. Students are expected to uphold the institution’s standards of orderliness at all times
Can students leave their personal belongings in the hall of residence during holiday periods?
No. The campus is not in a position to assume responsibility for students’ personal property left behind during holidays. Students are advised to take all their belongings with them at the end of each semester to avoid any loss or damage.
